Job description

BACKGROUND

REST exists to expand pathways to freedom, safety and hope in order to end sex trafficking. REST offers programs that are centered on the strengths, needs, and individual choices of each survivor we serve. We offer a continuum of care that includes outreach, a 24/7 hotline, community advocates, emergency shelter, and housing services. We are inspired by our faith as a Christian organization, are dedicated to serving people of all faith backgrounds, and do not require faith engagement. ROLE SUMMARY

The Part-Time Weekend Shelter Lead provides weekend coordination and operational leadership for REST’s Essential RESToration Center (ERC), RESToration Transitional Center (RTC), and crisis response services. The ERC is a low-barrier emergency shelter along with the RTC, a mid-barrier transitional center that serves cisgender and transgender women who have experienced the sex trade and/ or sexual exploitation. Guests may stay for 30–90 days and receive stabilizing support, including access to food, clothing, crisis intervention, housing assistance, and advocacy. ERC and RTC staff also support REST’s 24-hour hotline, providing crisis support, information, and referrals, along with emotional support to individuals seeking assistance.This position is responsible for supporting smooth weekend operations by coordinating staff coverage, overseeing weekend scheduling needs, and serving as the primary point of contact for on-call program concerns. The Weekend Lead models trauma-informed, person-centered care while ensuring that shelter and hotline services remain safe, responsive, and consistent with REST’s policies and standards.

Central to this role is the ability to build trusting relationships, maintain a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff, and support effective decision-making during crisis situations. The Weekend Lead provides guidance and support to weekend staff, assists with de-escalation and problem-solving, and helps ensure continuity of care across shifts.

This position reports to the Swing Shift Supervisor and works collaboratively with shelter staff and crisis response team members to maintain safe and effective weekend operations.

Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Provide weekend coordination and leadership for Emergency Receiving Center (ERC) shelter operations.
  • Ensure the shelter environment remains safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed for all guests and staff.
  • Support smooth daily operations including guest arrivals, departures, curfew monitoring, and community expectations.
  • Monitor shelter occupancy and communicate bed availability to the Swing Shift Supervisor or designated leadership.
  • Ensure all program policies, procedures, and safety protocols are followed during weekend shifts.
  • Address and de-escalate conflicts or concerns within the shelter community using trauma-informed approaches.

Staff Care

  • Provide a consistent presence in the workplace modeling a standard of trauma-informed care.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for weekend staff questions, guidance, and operational support
  • Coordinate weekend staff scheduling and ensure all shifts are appropriately covered.
  • Assist with managing call-outs or last-minute schedule adjustments to maintain service coverage
    Provide direction and support to weekend staff while modeling REST’s principles of care and service standards.
  • Assist staff with complex hotline calls, safety planning, and crisis intervention when needed
  • Communicate crisis updates, concerns or incidents to the Crisis Support Supervisor
  • Communicate staffing updates, concerns, or incidents to the Swing Shift Supervisor

Client Care

  • Create and maintain a welcoming, safe and inclusive community environment, that follows all policies and procedures and provides culturally responsive care for all
  • Engage with guests and hotline callers using organization’s principles of care including individualized care, strength-based and trauma informed care and train staff do the same
  • Serve as the weekend lead for crisis response and escalation support providing crisis intervention, emotional support, and referrals as needed
  • Complete enrollments and exits for guest utilizing shelter services at
  • REST
  • Address conflicts or issues that arise amongst clients and staff with sensitivity and professionalism.

Reporting, Systems, and Facilities

  • Ensure accurate documentation of client interactions, hotline calls, incidents, and services in the client database
  • Review shift logs and communicate important updates or concerns to the Swing Shift Supervisor
  • Complete incident reports and documentation in a timely manner following program protocols
  • Inventory and purchase facility supplies with the department budget
  • Record reconciled expenses, within budget, and submit financial reports in a timely matter.
  • Maintain facility upkeep, security, health and cleanliness standards.
  • Participate in all necessary REST staff meetings and trainings.
  • Assist in completion of staff performance evaluations quarterly, bi-annually or annually

Other

  • Self-regulate when experiencing triggers, trauma-responses, or stressors in order to stay engaged, productive and meet the needs of the team and clients
  • Contribute to the improvement of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the team
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Two years experience in client care social services or a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in crisis response, emergency shelter, advocacy, outreach, behavioral health, or related direct service roles
  • Two years or more years in leadership, supervision or manager roles
  • Must have reliable transportation, current auto insurance, and clean driving record
  • Ability to move about freely, throughout the Pathway Services Center, including ascending and descending stairs
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to thrive in a high intensity, and often unpredictable work environment
  • Flexible and able to respond to directives in a timely manner

Preferred

  • Two or more years experience with de-escalation in unpredictable settings and clients
  • Skilled at coordinating multiple people and activities, while keeping the big-picture vision in mind
  • Able to effectively work in a diverse workplace, and be self-aware regarding issues of race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion/spirituality and disability
  • Technology skills: iPhone; email; basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Database

Schedule

29 hours/week. This position typically works Friday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m with flexible on-call hours Friday-Sunday. Some holidays may be required.

Location

REST’s office is located in South Seattle.

Compensation

The compensation amount for this position is up to $30 an hour.

Benefits

Part-time benefits (working less than 32 hours/week): include accrued safe and sick time based on the hours worked, one paid mental health hour each week, and a 403b retirement plan.
