📍 Location: Flowood, MS

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical to join the team at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood, Mississippi.

This is an excellent 8-week travel assignment for a confident Med Surg RN who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment and is comfortable providing safe, high-quality care to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and recent Cerner EMR experience.

🩺 Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical Surgical patients throughout the shift.

  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and clinical changes.

  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.

  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.

  • Monitor vital signs, labs, and other clinical indicators.

  • Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly.

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner.

  • Deliver care while maintaining a 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.

  • Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.

✅ Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • BLS certification required

  • Recent Medical Surgical experience

  • Cerner EMR experience required

  • Permanent residence must be more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel assignment

  • Must be available to start ASAP

  • Strong clinical assessment, organization, and communication skills

  • Ability to work 7 PM–7 AM nights and alternating weekends
