Field Data Collection Technician
Wakefield, MA
We're on the lookout for a dynamic individual who can work independently, is highly responsible and thrives in an ever-changing environment. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring the quality of our geographical data as well as collecting imagery for our Geographical Information System.
During our peak seasons, you will be facilitating our data collection shifts. The shifts can range up from 8 to 10 hours (although some shifts require less time due to weather conditions, time of day, and location).
The ideal candidate would be passionate, tenacious, results focused and really enjoy working in a highly energetic and exciting environment.
What You'll Do
  • Operate our sidewalk survey electric scooters to collect video and geospatial information using a mobile application.
  • Collect specific data such as attributes, measurements and condition of roadway assets including Sidewalk and curb Ramps.
  • Ensure both delivery and quality objectives are met on projects.
  • Work, collaborate and communicate with the other Data Collection team members to ensure good project execution.
  • Drive our collection car and operate our Lidar system to collect data.
  • Conduct visual inspection for highways and sidewalks to record distresses.

Qualifications
  • Experience collaborating with other teams and clients.
  • Ability to maintain focus and complete tasks assigned.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with using computers.
  • Ability to ride the e-scooter system for 8 to 10 hours and manage long shift hours.
  • Experience with working in a dynamic work environment with necessary problem-solving skills.

Must Have
  • Valid US driver's license is a must.
  • Must be able to work overtime, and occasional weekend work is expected.
  • Safe driving record preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel (for weeks at a time).
  • Follow instructions, procedures and company standards.
  • Must be reliable and possess a high attention to detail.
  • Flexible to sudden changes in scheduling and duties.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Physical ability to lift 20+ kg, and walk 5-10km in a day.

Nice to Have
  • Previous in-the-field and on-the-road experience preferred.
  • Having Surveying, Civil Engineering or Pavement Management experience is a big plus, but not required.
  • Associate Degree in science, engineering, or geography/GIS.
