Shift Notes

  • License: Driver’s License required
  • Beds: 7 L&D, 2 triage rooms + 2 NST beds, 15 postpartum
  • OR: 1 primary + 1 backup C-section OR
  • Birth volume: 770 births in 2024
  • Ratios: AWHONN guidelines followed
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, EFM
  • Core experience: Labor management, OR circulation, PACU recovery
  • Drips: Oxytocin, insulin, magnesium; RNs titrate
  • Staffing: Charge nurse every shift with an assignment; scrub tech every shift
  • Providers: Pediatrician and anesthesia in-house 24/7; OB on call
  • Monitoring: RNs read their own strips; GE monitors; PeriWatch EFM
  • Schedule: 5:00 PM–5:30 AM; self-scheduling; every other weekend
  • Holidays: Every 3rd holiday
  • Call: None; possible standby if volume is low
  • Floating: May care for postpartum patients when L&D volume is low
  • Scrubs: Hospital supplied
  • Orientation: 1–2 department-specific shifts
  • Facility: Level II designated facility
