Job description

Surgical Nurse Residency Program

Exciting opportunity for registered nurses who would like to work in the operating room!

The Surgical Nurse Residency program is available to nurses who have a minimum of two years of experience as a nurse in a hospital or surgical center, BSN preferred.

Internal candidates must have six months in their current position.

The program consists of six months of classroom education and preceptorship within LGH Operating Rooms followed by a 2-year nurse residency.

All eligible applicants must:

  • Complete a resume and cover letter.
  • Participate in an interview process.
  • Participate in a one (1) day "shadow" opportunity which will include one (1) shift between 6:45 A.M. and 7:15 P.M. in the OR.
  • Internal candidates must complete the transfer applications process outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Each position will be a minimum of 32 hours and will be subject to all rotation, weekends, and on-call requirements associated with the position.
