GCESC Learning Center Intervention Specialist Middle School/High School
Reports to: Director of Learning Center Program
Salary Range: $43,000 - $70,000 Dependent on experience and education - prorated based on number of days
Excellent Benefits Package Consisting of: State Teachers Retirement System, paid sick/personal leave, tax-sheltered retirement contributions, Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and Employee Assistance Program.
Employment Status: Full-Time, prorated for remainder of the school year
FLSA Status: Exempt
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of ODE's Social Emotional Learning Standards
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Teaching license: Mild/Moderate -Intervention Specialist OR Education of handicapped in areas of learning disabilities/behavior disorders (LD/BD) or emotionally-disturbed/severe behavior handicapped (ED/SBH).
  • Adheres to Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
  • Trained in CPI/Non-Violent Crisis Prevention-- preferred. (will provide training if needed)
  • Experience in IEP writing and Data Collection
  • Must be proficient at conducting FBAs and writing BIPs.
  • Experience working with Emotionally Disturbed/Behaviorally Challenged Students
  • Knowledge of Ohio Academic Content Standards and ability to write lesson plans that coordinate with them and that are differentiated to meet the needs of all students on caseload.
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals to meet the needs of every student.
  • Must have excellent attendance record.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal/written
  • Prefer to have passing test score on Foundations of Reading (OAE 090)
General Description: Constructs and implements Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Plans for ED & other students in Learning Center program; conducts evaluations required to document student progress toward goals & objectives; participates in parent conferences to share information pertaining to the IEP & student progress.

  • Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a positive work attitude.
  • Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills.
  • Completes paperwork accurately.
  • Verifies and correctly enters data.
  • Organizes tasks and manages time effectively.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
  • Employee shall remain free from any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the center.
  • Pass BCI/FBI background checks.
