Job Summary
As a student worker for the Townsend Center, you learn the many aspects of event services and productions. This job is multi-faceted with continuous new learning opportunities. Each student begins in a tech maintenance role where you learn the total operation of event setup, event production, and event resets.
Some of the skills taught are:
Setting up all production needs for a variety of event types working back stage for productions
Running lights and sound for lectures, dance, concerts, and more
Clean up and strike after productions
Using a variety of tools and equipment for the daily maintenance of the venue
Other assignments as needed by the supervisor
This position does not have a set schedule. Many evenings and weekends are required during peak production weeks. During the off production times the schedule changes to daytime maintenance hours for cleaning projects. It is a physically demanding job with tasks such as:
Painting floors and sets
Sweeping and mopping
Dusting and cleaning lighting instruments
Standing for long periods of time
Unloading trucks of equipment for event setups
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours
  • Must have a cumulative 2.0 grade-point average

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Must not be afraid of heights
  • Able to stand for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2.5 grade-point average or higher
