Position Summary:
The security guard is responsible for actively supervising the entrances before, during and after school as well as for various events held at the school, as well as monitoring the gym and surrounding areas within the building during the events. The hours for this position are Thursday & Friday, 6am-10am, plus as needed for other shift days/times throughout the week. In addition, working periodic weekend events & summer camp shifts will be expected. It is expected that security guards are available to work at least 16 hours per month.
Security Guard Responsibilities:
  • Actively patrol the hallways, lunchroom, lounge, gymnasium, & school parking lots.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras at the security desk.
  • Secure premise entry/exit access points (door checks).
  • Report any concerning behavior of any student, employee, visitor and/or other individual to the appropriate school administrator or event contact.
  • Calmly handle and de-escalate any major conflict or presence of any unauthorized guest(s).
  • Report any student, staff, or visitor illness or medical emergency to the school nurse or proper authority such as calling 911.
  • Comprehend and utilize the school's Mobile Emergency Response Plan and understand your role in different emergency situations throughout the building.
  • Maintain organization's mission & reputation by complying with all established policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
  • Active (Certified IL Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board Member status) or retired (Active IL Retired Officer Concealed Carry) Law Enforcement Officer
  • Previous experience as a security guard is preferred but not required
