Position Summary: The General Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties along with providing assistance/coordination of set up and take down for school events.
Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):
  • Assembles new furniture and equipment.
  • Replaces ceiling tiles.
  • Repairs student lockers as reported.
  • Assists with snow removal from school property as directed as well as maintaining outdoor areas sweeping sidewalks and picking up litter.
  • Perform routine maintenance items like checking/replacing light bulbs in corridors, classrooms and by exits.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the cafeteria, kitchen and all school related equipment including cleanup after lunch hours.
  • Sets up events with requested table and chair arrangements for special functions, moves other furniture and equipment as directed.
  • Assists with takedown of school events, including moving tables, chairs and cleaning up after the event is finished.
  • Assumes general responsibility for assigned areas but takes care of other areas as need dictates.
  • Ensures equipment and supply storage areas neat and orderly as well as keep maintenance inventory stocked.
  • Keeps maintenance equipment in good, clean, working condition.
  • Responds to emergency clean up needs in a prompt manner while complying with OSHA regulations regarding the proper disposal of body wastes and/or fluids.
  • Reports any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate school personnel.
  • Deliver heavy packages throughout the building.
  • The hours are Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 6PM, some overtime is required which may be on the weekends.
  • Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive a non CDL passenger bus as needed.

Education/Experience Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in maintenance work preferred but willing to train a motivated person.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively as well as possess a strong ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, moving heavy objects along with standing for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally must be able lift, carry, pull, push, and/or move up to 75 pounds.
