About the role

We are seeking a board‑certified (or board‑eligible) Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a passion for and previous experience in microsurgical breast reconstruction. Other clinical areas may include general reconstruction and trauma reconstruction. This employed physician role will be in addition to our current team of 5 owner‑physicians, 3 APPs, nursing staff, and administrative teams, all of whom work together to deliver outstanding perioperative care and reconstructive services.

The employed physician will lead or co‑lead each phase of patient care, including inpatient rounding, comprehensive pre‑ and post‑operative planning, and advanced diagnostic interpretation. In the OR, the physician will operate independently as primary surgeon and also participate as co‑surgeon on complex microsurgical cases.

Call responsibilities will be commensurate with the other physicians in the practice, including weeknight and weekend call at level II and level III trauma centers in the Spokane community.

Fractional position may be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Perform microsurgical free‑flap breast reconstruction (DIEP, SIEA, TUG, etc.), general reconstruction, and trauma reconstruction procedures.
  • Provide on‑call coverage and urgent reconstructive consults as part of the group’s collaborative call rotation.
  • Partner with physicians and APPs to grow procedural services, enhancing access and efficiency.
  • Round on reconstruction inpatients, develop post‑operative care plans, and coordinate safe discharges.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies (e.g., imaging, labs) to optimize patient outcomes and manage complications.
  • Work with other surgical specialists and referring providers to plan timing and sequencing of reconstruction.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment‑planning meetings.
  • Engage in regular case‑planning sessions with owner‑physicians to align on best practices and share surgical insights.
  • Participate in quarterly performance reviews and professional‑development planning with practice leadership.
  • Contribute to practice‑wide protocol updates, sharing lessons learned from both private‑practice and academic experiences.
Candidate requirements
  • MD or DO with completion of an ACGME‑accredited residency in Plastic Surgery
  • Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Plastic Surgery
  • Fellowship training or experience in microsurgical breast reconstruction preferred but not required
  • Unrestricted Washington medical license (and Idaho eligibility, if applicable)
  • DEA license (or ability to obtain)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and team‑collaboration skills
