Job description

Project Manager — Custom Doors & Millwork

Sonoran Doors  |  North Phoenix, AZ 85027  |  Full-Time, On-Site

$85,000 – $110,000 annually, depending on experience

Sonoran Doors is a family-owned manufacturer of high-end custom wood doors and architectural millwork, serving the finest custom homes in Arizona since 2000. We're hiring an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of project execution from contract signing through final punch. If you're someone who answers your phone, returns your calls, and takes pride in projects running on time and on budget — we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on Project Manager role reporting directly to the President. You'll own the full lifecycle of door and millwork projects, leading a small team and coordinating with our shop foreman to deliver beautiful work on time.

•    Manage projects end-to-end — from signed contract through final punch, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, and quality are met.

•    Lead a team  — drafters, purchasing coordinators, estimators, millwork providing direction, accountability, and support.

•    Be the primary point of contact for builders, architects, designers, and homeowners — responsive communication is non-negotiable.

•    Coordinate with the Shop Foreman (your peer) on production scheduling, material readiness, and install timing.

•    Enforce internal process — we have a process for everything.

•    Schedule and dispatch — schedule and dispatch install crews daily through time tracking software, ensuring crews have clear assignments, and that they document daily progress, photos, and project status in project management software before leaving each job site.

•    Track project financials — track project financials and provide regular project status updates to support deposits, progress billing, change orders, and closeouts. Lead the change order process — identify scope changes, price and document them, secure customer approval, and update internal systems before work proceeds.

•    Field measure — conduct accurate field measurements for new projects, scope changes, and verification of existing conditions. Field measurements are a critical part of every project — accuracy here protects the budget, the schedule, and the customer relationship downstream.

What We're Looking For

•    5+ years of project management experience in custom millwork, cabinetry, doors, or related architectural woodworking trades.

•    Strong leadership skills — you've managed direct reports before and know how to hold people accountable in a professional, supportive way.

•    Excellent communication — builders, architects, and homeowners will all have your cell number. You return calls the same day.

•    Ability to read architectural drawings, door schedules, and specifications.

•    Comfort with technology — Apple environment, SharePoint, Excel, project management software (ClockShark or similar), and digital markup tools.

•    Organized and proactive — you anticipate problems before they become emergencies, and you don't wait to be asked.

•    Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and follow-through.

Who This Role Is NOT For

This is not a role for someone who avoids hard conversations, lets calls go to voicemail, or treats material waste as someone else's problem. We're a tight-knit team that values communication, ownership, and craftsmanship. If that's not you, please don't apply.

Why Sonoran Doors

•    Family-owned, continuously growing since 2000

•    Work on some of Arizona's most beautiful custom homes

•    Direct working relationship with the President — your voice matters

•    Real authority to run your projects without micromanagement

Compensation & Benefits

•    Base salary: $85,000 – $110,000 annually, depending on experience

•    Medical, dental, vision, life insurance

•    Paid vacation, paid sick time, and paid holidays

•    Mileage reimbursement

•    Company-provided cell phone, iPad, and computer

•    Pet discount program

How to Apply

Apply through ZipRecruiter with your current resume. Strong candidates will be contacted within a few business days for an initial phone conversation. Please include a brief note (one or two paragraphs) describing your most challenging project as a PM and how you handled it.

Sonoran Doors is an equal opportunity employer. Remote and contract work are not available for this position. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
