Job description

Fleet Mechanic

The Grounds Guys of The Rogue Valley

For over 20 years, The Grounds Guys of The Rogue Valley has operated with precision, discipline, and commitment to keeping our customers’ properties in top condition. Behind our success is a well-maintained fleet of trucks, trailers, and specialized landscaping equipment. We are seeking a Fleet Mechanic with the ability, focus, and problem-solving mindset to keep our operation mission-ready every day.

This is not an entry-level position. We need a professional who can execute repairs, adapt to changing priorities, and ensure our fleet is safe, reliable, and compliant with all operational requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on gas and diesel trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment (mowers, blowers, skid steers, MT55s, trenchers, etc.) with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Execute welding and fabrication work for structural repairs and custom modifications
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems on both vehicles and equipment
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and wiring — including lighting systems, trailer wiring, battery systems, charging systems, and small engine electrical components
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to avoid breakdowns and extend equipment life
  • Keep service records accurate, current, and detailed in our fleet management system
  • Prioritize repair schedules to ensure operational readiness for upcoming work weeks
  • Coordinate with leadership to determine which repairs will be completed in-house and which will be outsourced to specialty shops
  • Assist with parts sourcing and ordering to reduce downtime
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment

Work Environment & Expectations:

  • You will not be working alone — our team approach means support is always available for lifting, repairs requiring multiple people, and troubleshooting
  • While the majority of work is completed Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PM, weekend work will sometimes be required to return essential equipment to service when parts arrive late, or repairs are time-sensitive
  • We handle roughly 90% of all fleet and equipment repairs in-house, but high-complexity or specialized repairs (such as advanced transmission rebuilds or specialized electronic diagnostics) are sent to trusted partner shops
  • Expect occasional travel to job sites for field repairs when equipment cannot be transported easily

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Mid-level or higher mechanical skills (welding/fabrication and electrical proficiency strongly preferred)
  • Strong diagnostic ability for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt when faced with unexpected challenges
  • Organized, disciplined, and able to manage workload without constant supervision
  • Comfortable working in a team environment where communication and coordination are key
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $25–$35/hr DOE (Certified mechanics earn at the top range)
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • Competitive benefits package
  • Overtime opportunities during peak demand periods
  • All necessary tools, equipment, and resources provided — if you need it to do the job right, we will provide it

About Us:

We are a 40+ person team built on discipline, respect, and an uncompromising standard of workmanship. Our crews and customers rely on our fleet being operational and ready at all times — and that responsibility starts here, in the shop. If you take pride in your craft, value precision, and can keep a fleet ready for the next mission, you will fit right in.
