Job description

Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Mining Equipment)
Schedule: 12-hour shifts

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of mining mobile equipment. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, mechanical expertise, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. Candidates must be comfortable working extended 12-hour shifts and rotating between day and night schedules if needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy mining equipment including:
    • Excavators
    • Dozers
    • Haul trucks (40-ton to 100-ton)
    • Water trucks
    • Motor graders
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues efficiently
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and servicing
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety and operational standards
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation
  • Work collaboratively with operators and other maintenance personnel
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and MSHA regulations
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (mining or construction)
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Experience working on large haul trucks and earthmoving equipment preferred
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Valid driver's license required
