Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K-8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a data-driven and culturally responsive 6th Grade Math Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and help scholars build strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills. This role focuses on preparing students for higher-level math through conceptual understanding and real-world application.

AMS teachers are collaborative, growth-minded professionals who believe all students can achieve at high levels.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned math instruction using AMS curriculum and instructional frameworks.

  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.

  • Use assessment data to monitor progress and adjust instruction to maximize student growth.

  • Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong mathematical foundations.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and instructional leaders to continuously improve teaching practices.

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic goals.

  • Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.

Scholar Culture & Support

  • Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support positive student behavior.

  • Create a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes accountability and success.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field
    OR

  • Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area

Additionally, candidates must:

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills

  • Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Demonstrate commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities

  • Show strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction

  • Demonstrate collaboration, initiative, and adaptability in a team environment

Compensation & Benefits
