Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance department. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, including machine maintenance, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, facilities maintenance, and the construction and installation of new equipment. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a solid understanding of various maintenance practices. This hands-on role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance and inspections on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance, adjustments, and cleaning.
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or failures in a timely manner.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of defective or worn-out machine parts using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to diagnose and repair complex machinery or electrical issues.
  • Lubricate all refrigeration motors and change filters, oil motors and shaft bearings, and change oil in vacuum pumps.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment maintenance logs.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks based on scheduled maintenance plans to minimize downtime and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various departments and address any urgent issues to prevent production delays.
  • Perform general facilities maintenance tasks, such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, and other repairs as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment issues.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of various hand and power tools used in maintenance and repair work.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, while also collaborating effectively with other team members.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs) and perform manual labor when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends, evenings, or overtime as required.
