Facilities and Maintenance Support

Location: Philadelphia, PA (19136)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:20 PM. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required for emergency repairs, scheduled maintenance, equipment installations, or facility projects.
Starting Pay: $20/hour (Entry Level)

Summary

The Facilities and Maintenance Support role performs maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and improvement work involving DeVal’s manufacturing equipment, building systems, utilities, grounds, and facility infrastructure. Working under the direction of the Facilities Manager, this hourly position supports the safe and reliable operation of CNC machines, production equipment, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and facility support equipment.

A significant portion of this role involves diagnosing and repairing machine and equipment issues, performing preventative maintenance, supporting equipment installations and relocations, and running electrical power to machinery and other facility equipment within the employee’s training, qualifications, and authorization. The ideal candidate has practical electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical knowledge and is comfortable working in an active manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on CNC machines, production equipment, facility equipment, and building systems.
  • Diagnose basic electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment issues and assist with more complex repairs under the direction of the Facilities Manager or qualified technical personnel.
  • Perform machine maintenance and machining-related repairs, including replacing components, adjusting equipment, identifying worn or damaged parts, and supporting equipment uptime.
  • Install, route, and connect electrical power for machinery, equipment, lighting, outlets, and facility improvements within the employee’s training, qualifications, and authorization.
  • Assist with electrical work involving circuits, wiring, motors, controls, disconnects, panels, and other industrial electrical components.
  • Perform general building and facility repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, lighting, compressed-air systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Assist with equipment installation, relocation, setup, utility connections, and facility improvement projects.
  • Perform scheduled cleaning, inspection, and preventative maintenance of CNC machines during weekend shutdowns, as assigned.
  • Maintain buildings, grounds, parking areas, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
  • Respond to facility, machine, and equipment issues and help determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Complete work orders and accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
  • Support safety inspections and maintain compliance with company safety procedures, electrical safety requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and other applicable standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, electricians, technicians, and vendors under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
  • Maintain tools, testing equipment, replacement parts, and maintenance inventory.
  • Participate in equipment reliability, facility improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Practical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, industrial maintenance, or related technical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on machinery, production equipment, motors, electrical components, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and maintenance tools, or the ability to quickly learn.
  • Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to identify equipment problems, evaluate possible causes, and communicate repair needs clearly.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize maintenance needs, and collaborate with production employees, contractors, and leadership.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical requirements.
  • Ability to work the regular schedule and occasional adjusted hours, including scheduled weekend maintenance or shutdown work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, machine repair, industrial construction, or a related technical role.
  • Experience maintaining or repairing CNC machines, machining equipment, production machinery, motors, pumps, compressors, or related industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, motors, controls, disconnects, panels, and running power to machinery or equipment.
  • Technical knowledge or hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, welding, or preventative maintenance.
  • Technical school, trade school, apprenticeship, military technical training, or college coursework in industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or a related field.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, or CMMS.
  • Forklift certification, OSHA training, lockout/tagout training, electrical safety training, or related safety credentials. Training may be provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work indoors or outdoors.
  • Safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
