Job Description Summary
The Graduate Assistant in the Library reports to the Director of the Library and is responsible for assisting with the Library's digitization projects, providing routine research services, and assisting the Library Director with the operations of the Library. The Graduate Assistant (GA) must be available to work nights (until Midnight), weekends, Super Study, and currently living or have future plans to live on campus while pursuing degree.
Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and LaSallian higher education.
-Assist with the Library's digital projects, including scanning and data entry.
-Collaborate with library staff to compile data used for library assessment.
-Provide routine research services to assist library users with the proper use of online databases, print materials and other library resources.
-Assist the Director with Library operations, which may include interlibrary loan and course reserves, etc.
-Assist with technical services projects, including de-selection and collection maintenance.
-During Super Study supervise, coordinate and monitor the activities/duties of student workers in absence of the Circulation Supervisors
-Perform all duties associated with opening and closing the library
- Assist with technical services projects, including de-selection and collection maintenance.
-Other projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Must be enrolled in and maintain satisfactory progress in a graduate program at Lewis University. Must have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have some proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office. Some evening, weekend and overnight hours are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Some previous library experience and familiarity with online coursework and online tools (e. g., Blackboard).
Currently living or have future plans to live on campus while pursuing degree

Part-time; minimum of 20 hours per week; The Graduate Assistant (GA) must be available to work nights (until Midnight), weekends and Super Study. This is a twelve month position.
