Position Corporation: Catholic Cemeteries
Position Title: Laborer
Position Status: Union
General Description:
This position conducts basic grounds maintenance duties. Learn the policies and procedures of the cemetery. Ensure that all services are conducted with dignity and respect to the Roman Catholic Church.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible to the foremen of the respective cemetery.
  • Lawn amp; landscape maintenance including but not limited to: cutting amp; trimming of grass and shrubs, leaf pick-up, landscape bed maintenance, snow removal.
  • Proper use of all hand and motorized tools (once properly trained).
  • Notify foremen and/or mechanic of any operational concerns of tools.
  • Responsible for their surroundings when operating any machinery.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by foremen assisting with the care and maintenance of the cemetery.
Required Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Must be capable of performing a variety of physical tasks and movements including lifting up to 50 lbs. or more routinely.
  • Other physical tasks/movements include but are not limited to standing, pushing/pulling, walking, stooping, bending, climbing, driving, crawling, kneeling and squatting.
  • Must be able to use power tools and manual maintenance equipment
  • Must have people skills and be able to work well with others.
  • Project a positive and respectful image to co-workers and visitors.
  • Must display compassion and empathy in dealing with the loss of a family member
  • Experience in cemeteries is a plus.
