Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Opportunity

Valle del Sol is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our integrated behavioral health team. This position provides psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults receiving behavioral health and substance use treatment services.

Using a patient-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented approach, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner partners with patients, families, behavioral health professionals, medical providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support whole-person wellness and improved health outcomes.

This position offers the opportunity to work within a mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving diverse communities across Arizona.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical findings.
  • Assess co-occurring behavioral health, substance use, and medical conditions.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications in accordance with evidence-based practices and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness, side effects, and patient progress.
  • Provide medication education to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with therapists, case managers, care coordinators, primary care providers, and other members of the treatment team.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and treatment planning activities.
  • Support integrated care initiatives that promote whole-person health.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic health record.
  • Complete required assessments, treatment plans, and clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications Required
  • Current Arizona Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
  • DEA registration and full prescribing authority.
  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred
  • One (1) or more years of psychiatric prescribing experience.
  • Experience working in community behavioral health, integrated healthcare, FQHC, or substance use treatment settings.
  • Experience treating children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong psychiatric assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based treatment practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
