Job description

Purpose:
Polynt is a major producer of Composites and Coating resins and is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to work in the Jacksonville, FL location.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for carrying out troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance activities for all mechanical systems in a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the manufacturing process.
Responsibility:
  • Adhere to site safety standards and policies to ensure that all work is carried out safely for all staff, contractors, and site visitors. If hazards are present, stop work and report the situation to your supervisor. Work together to resolve the hazard before resuming work.
  • Perform scheduled and breakdown repairs as required by the facility. This would include, but not be limited to, Pumps (gear, centrifugal, air actuated diaphragm, reciprocating), valves and piping systems, Agitation systems (up to 50 HP), fans, blowers, mechanical seals (single, double, lip) and sealing devices (packing, etc.).
  • Perform troubleshooting of equipment reliability issues and aid in developing repair plans to address the problem.
  • Complete work orders and report results to management. Completion of daily shift logs and updating of plant equipment files.
  • Aid in the selection of required components and determine quantities to be ordered for completion of repairs and necessary spare stock.
  • Install and modify existing and new piping systems.
  • Become knowledgeable in the application of all site Maintenance and Safety Procedures.
  • Minor structural, painting, concrete, insulation, and light sheet metal work.
  • Facility snow removal including shovels, snow blowers, plow trucks, bobcats.

Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and their components
  • Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Previous experience with rigging and other standard skills of the trade.
  • Lift and control a minimum of 50 lbs. load from floor level to standing position.
  • Regularly walk, bend, squat, and climb stairs/ladders/scaffolds in both indoor and outdoor environments, year-round.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including full face respirator, safety boots, safety glasses, and hard hat.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces including confined spaces.
  • Math skills (inc. weights, measures, and conversions).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Computer skills (SAP, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule covering nights and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-5 years maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience in boiler operation and maintenance.
  • Experience with boiler and cooling tower water treatment.
  • 24-hour HAZWOPER certified.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for equipment and basic LOTO procedures.
  • Forklift certified.
