summary/objective

Metrology Specialist responsible for ensuring the accuracy and precision of measurement instruments and systems used in manufacturing and laboratory environments. This role involves calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

essential functions

  • Instrument Calibration: Perform regular calibration of measurement instruments and equipment (e.g., HPLC’s, Gas chromatography, dissolution instruments) to ensure they provide accurate readings
  • Instrument Maintenance and Repair: Conduct preventive maintenance on metrology instruments to avoid downtime and ensure long-term functionality.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors or technicians for more complex repairs if needed.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all instruments used in production, testing, or research meet the required precision and quality standards.
  • Compliance and documentation: Ensure that all calibration activities comply with relevant regulatory bodies and industry standards (e.g., ISO 17025, GMP, FDA). Maintain detailed calibration certificates, records, and logs for each piece of equipment to provide traceability and documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring availability while minimizing waste.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and organize project documentation, including plans, specifications, reports, and compliance records.
  • Communication: Serve as a second point of contact for metrology-related inquiries and issues.
  • Project Coordination: Plan and coordinate metrology-related projects.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation of metrology operations, maintenance activities, and compliance audits.

required skills/ abilities:

  • Time Management: Ensure that projects and daily operations are completed within time constraints.
  • Verbal and Written Communication: Clearly communicate with staff, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in facilities management software, maintenance request tracking systems, or other tools used to monitor building operations and schedules.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, team members, and supervisors to ensure seamless operations.

preferred education and experience

  • 5-10 years of relevant metrology/calibration work/ maintenance experience in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industries
  • Demonstrates a high level of organization in task management.
  • Demonstrates logical planning for task execution & follow-up.
  • Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem-solving & troubleshooting.

position type/expected hours of work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, but extended (earlier or later) work times or weekend work may be required.
