Custodian - Summer Help
About Maine School Administrative District No. 33
Maine School Administrative District No. 33 serves students in grades PreK-12 in St. Agatha, ME, home of the Long Lake Fishing Derby, one of the largest fishing derby's in the state!.   The district has two (2) schools under one roof, Wisdom Middle/High School and Dr. Levesque Elementary School, a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School.  The district is also home to the St. John Valley Technology Center, serving students from MSAD33, MSAD27, and the Madawaska School Department.

Job Goals: To provide a safe, orderly, and clean school environment, including school grounds.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Experience in basic mechanics, carpentry, painting and/or other skills, as deemed necessary.
  3. Valid Criminal History Record Check certificate
  4. Knowledgeable in operating motorized equipment, cleaning/general building maintenance, and safety procedures.
  5. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Legal and Ethical Duties:

  1. Maintains confidentiality related to all aspects of written records and oral communications.
  2. Demonstrates respect for the rights of students, teachers, other staff, and parents.
  3. Follows health and safety procedures established by the District.
  4. Arrives and departs punctually, and promptly notifies the building secretary/principal when s/he is to be absent.
  5. Demonstrates loyalty, dependability, and integrity, as well as other ethical standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the cleanliness of their area of the building, as delegated.
  2. Painting, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning carpets, general maintenance, and other duties assigned to ensure the building is clean and in order.
  3. Does repairs of the building, furniture, and equipment.
  4. Upkeeps grounds by mowing lawns, removing snow, and cleaning, as necessary.
  5. Secures buildings, classrooms, offices, etc., provided they are the last to leave the building.
  6. Understands safety procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) compliance regulations.
  7. Responsible to check and upkeep the furnace room, heating system, pipes, radiators, ceiling leaks, etc. during the school day and on weekends as assigned.
  8. Participates in professional development related to maintain/improve job-related skills
  9. Ability to use tools, operate motor driven cleaning equipment, lift up to 50 pounds, and other physical demands, as needed.
  10. Is a positive role model for students and supports the mission of the District.
  11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  12. Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members
  13. Keeps informed about and complies with State, District, and school laws, regulations and policies for custodians.
  14. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required by the principal(s).
  15. Performs other such duties as assigned by the building principal.
