What is weekend healthcare?

Weekend healthcare jobs are positions within hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or other medical facilities that require staff to work primarily on weekends. These roles often include nurses, doctors, caregivers, medical assistants, and support staff who provide essential care to patients during the weekend, when regular weekday staff may not be available. Weekend healthcare jobs can offer flexible scheduling, higher pay rates, and are vital for ensuring continuous patient care. These jobs are ideal for individuals seeking part-time work or those who prefer working weekends due to personal commitments during the week.

What skills and qualifications are needed for weekend healthcare?

To thrive in a Weekend Healthcare role, you need a solid background in patient care, relevant healthcare certifications (such as CNA, LPN, or RN licensure), and experience in clinical settings. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), scheduling systems, and common medical equipment is typically required. Excellent communication, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial soft skills for handling weekend-specific challenges. These competencies ensure quality patient care, efficient workflow, and effective teamwork during high-demand weekend shifts.

What are the challenges and rewards of working in weekend healthcare?

Weekend Healthcare professionals often face the challenge of managing higher patient volumes with potentially limited staff, as fewer team members may be scheduled compared to weekdays. However, this environment can foster strong teamwork and quick decision-making skills, as collaboration and adaptability are essential. Many find the role rewarding because they can provide critical care during times when others are off, and weekend shifts often come with schedule flexibility or additional pay incentives. Additionally, working weekends can offer healthcare professionals opportunities to gain experience in handling urgent cases and develop leadership skills as they take on more responsibility.

Job description

Patient Care Coordinator – Hearing Care Clinic

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | No Nights | Most Weekends Off

We are looking for a motivated, organized, and people-focused Patient Care Coordinator to help launch and grow our practice.

Beltone has been recognized by Forbes as one of America's Best Midsize Employers in 2025 — and we're excited to bring that award-winning culture to Madison.

This role is the heartbeat of our clinic. You'll be the first impression for our patients and a key driver of appointment flow, follow-ups, and overall patient experience.

If you love helping people, staying organized, and being part of a growing healthcare team — this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do
  • Greet patients and create a warm, professional experience
  • Schedule hearing evaluations, fittings, and follow-ups
  • Answer phones and convert inquiries into booked appointments
  • Confirm appointments and reduce no-shows
  • Handle patient intake paperwork and basic administrative tasks
  • Support providers with patient flow and coordination
  • Make follow-up calls to undecided or inactive patients
  • Help grow referrals and community awareness

You won't be selling hearing aids — but your work directly supports clinic success.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Group health insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Monday–Friday schedule (8–5)
  • Most weekends and holidays off
  • Paid training
  • Supportive team environment
  • Opportunity to grow with a new clinic

What We're Looking For

  • Customer service or healthcare front-office experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and phone skills
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working with older adults
  • Professional, positive attitude
  • Coachable and team-oriented
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Why Join Us?

At Beltone, we help people reconnect with life through better hearing. You'll be part of a respected national brand recognized by Forbes, while helping build a brand-new local clinic from the ground up.

If you enjoy helping others, staying busy, and being part of something growing — we'd love to meet you.
