What is a weekend handyman?

A Weekend Handyman job involves performing general maintenance, repairs, and small improvement projects, typically on weekends. Tasks may include fixing plumbing issues, electrical work, painting, installing fixtures, or assembling furniture. This role is ideal for individuals with handyman skills who want to earn extra income during their free time. Weekend handymen often work independently or for property owners, businesses, or rental properties that need occasional maintenance.

What types of tasks can I expect to handle as a weekend handyman?

You may also be asked to work independently or alongside other handymen, depending on the job size. Since the work is often scheduled for weekends, you’ll help customers who prefer maintenance tasks outside of weekday hours, which can require flexibility and efficient time management. These capabilities are crucial for delivering high-quality repairs and maintaining client satisfaction during tight weekend schedules.

Home Repair/Exclusion Technician

Location: HQ is in Bothell, WA
Service Area: King and Snohomish Counties
Pay Range: $25 - $30 per hour (DOE)
If you're hands-on professional with a passion for problem-solving and craftsmanship, we want to talk to you. We're a family-owned company that's protected greater Seattle homes for over 50 years, and we're hiring a Home Repair/Exclusion Technician to seal homes against rodents using real carpentry skills - not spray-and-go pest work.
You'll roll up to each house, solve a hands-on puzzle, do clean and durable repairs, and leave homeowners with genuine peace of mind.
What makes this a good job
  • Company truck, tools & PPE — all provided. Once you're out of training, we encourage "home garaging," so you take the truck home and head straight to your first job each morning.
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off — 80 hours accrued in your first year, plus 8 paid holidays.
  • 3 months of specialized training. You don't need to walk in an expert. We spend three months teaching you the repairs, how to safely carry and set ladders, and how to operate every power tool we use — so you're genuinely set up to succeed.
  • Perks: stocked office pantry and fridge, plus an Employee Assistance Program for you and your family.

What you'll actually do
  • Start at our Bothell warehouse: review your route for the day and load your truck.
  • Drive to homes across King and Snohomish Counties.
  • Find where rodents are getting in, and seal those entry points with precise, long-lasting carpentry.
  • Walk homeowners through the work — you're the face of the company at their door.
  • Leave every site cleaner than you found it.
  • Log your work on a company phone before heading out.
Expect to work in crawl spaces, attics, and up on ladders. This is real, physical, hands-on work — and it's where the craftsmanship comes in.
What we're looking for
  • A working knowledge of tools and repairs is a plus — a background in construction, carpentry, handyman work, or home repair. But we're glad to train the right person, so don't count yourself out if you're mechanically inclined and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable on ladders, in tight spaces, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
  • Friendly and clear with customers.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (we'll pull an MVR).
  • Able to pass a background check, driving record check, and drug screen. We do not screen for marijuana.
  • Open to occasional evenings or weekends, though that's rare.
No pest-control experience needed — and if your carpentry is still developing, that's exactly what our three months of training are for. If you're handy, dependable, and eager to learn, we want to hear from you.
