Job Overview

The Carpenter / Painter maintains building interior walls, flooring, ceilings, entry doors, fitting room hardware, fixture drawers, and hinges. This role performs journey-level painting, finishing, and maintenance on a variety of interior and exterior surfaces, structures, and fixtures. The Carpenter / Painter works across multiple facilities as needed.

Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. What You Will Do

Carpenter Essential Functions:

  • Install, maintain, and repair walls, flooring, ceilings, fixtures, doors, hardware, and laminate.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on building interiors as needed.
  • Regularly use power tools and lift heavy or bulky items.
  • Utilize the Work Order System to manage repair requests and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all systems comply with local codes.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Travel intermittently between store locations and out of town as needed.
  • Work safely around customers and employees.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Work independently without daily direct supervision.
  • Complete tasks efficiently as directed by the People Leader.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow established safety guidelines and work standards.
  • Assist with all aspects of maintenance and repair within assigned facilities, including on-call availability.

Painter Essential Functions:

  • Prepare, prime, sand, seal, patch, and paint interior and exterior surfaces, furniture, and fixtures using various painting materials, including varnish, lacquer, and latex. Adjust colors as needed.
  • Apply tape and joint compound to repair sheetrock walls and ceilings.
  • Remove graffiti using appropriate products.
  • Install and repair wall coverings.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain painting equipment, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, and pumps.
  • Purchase and inventory equipment and supplies.
  • Estimate time and materials required for projects.
  • Erect scaffolding and use ladders safely in compliance with safety codes.
  • Store and label materials safely.
  • Adhere to state and local disposal requirements for hazardous materials.
  • Respond to routine and emergency service calls, documenting completed work in the work order system.
  • Complete tasks efficiently as directed by the People Leader.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Task Prioritization: Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and business needs.

Work Order System Utilization: Effective use of work order systems for tracking maintenance and repairs.

Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with store management, employees, and team members.

Reporting & Documentation: Ability to provide clear updates on maintenance tasks, issues, and resolutions.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
  • 5+ years of direct experience
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on department and company needs
  • Must be able to respond to after hours and weekend calls (24/7)
  • Able to travel between stores, as needed

Essential Physical Requirements You Will Perform

  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands
  • Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
  • May involve reaching above eye level
  • Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
