POSITION: Building and Grounds Maintenance-
SALARY RANGE: District Classified Salary Schedule- $20-26. Must be 16 years or older

BUILDING AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE PURPOSE: Performs maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in optimal condition; and provides assistance with custodial, students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary. Performs related duties and general maintenance work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Help keep the campus clean by picking up trash and pulling weeds
  • Mow lawns and help keep grass areas looking nice
  • Set up spaces for sports, events, and school activities
  • Drive district vehicles to different work locations (if eligible)
  • Use basic tools and equipment like mowers and trimmers
  • Help remove snow when needed
  • Respond to urgent clean-up or safety needs
  • Help with basic repairs and upkeep of school buildings
  • Assist with irrigation (sprinkler) systems
  • Set up rooms and spaces for indoor events
  • Move equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed
  • Help unload deliveries and organize supplies
  • Work with and support custodial staff

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
  • Ability to successfully and cooperatively fulfill assigned responsibilities
  • Maintain good attendance
  • Work as a positive team member
  • Ability to accept a variety of assignments, in various settings and with several individuals

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and some fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires minimal sitting, 40% walking, and 60% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and a generally hazard free environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Position is per Weld County School District Re-8 calendar
  • To be determined by the Director of Support Services or designee; (6:00 am - 4:30 pm) during the summer.
  • Position may include weekend work.
  • All agreements for employment of personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education.
  • No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re-8 buildings.
  • Selected applicant(s) must comply with the District's Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.
