Job description

Primary Purpose -The facility operates in a shift-work environment that emphasizes safety, team building, total quality, and continuous process improvement. This position is responsible for upkeep and cleaning of general assigned area, providing breaks of other employees, moving heavy objects and cleaning equipment and/or machinery, and loading or unloading of material. This position must have excellent communication, ability to work alone at a fast production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Working throughout the mill in various areas to include relieving employees for breaks, learning to operate production equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in assigned areas
  • Fill holes and gaps in the surface veneer using putty guns and hand tools.
  • Operate the equipment to produce the highest quality product possible
  • Keep up with the current flow of production
  • Clean production area - sweep and remove debris
  • Responsible for assisting in setting up the equipment to meet quality and production standards and the overall flow of product on the line on assigned position.
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environment guidelines, policies and procedures, including LOTO procedures

Other Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Keep work area free of trip hazards and clutter
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications and Experience -

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to work safely around moving manufacturing equipment and machinery
  • Able to work overtime, holidays as well as night shift and some weekends
  • Able to perform essential physical functions of the position, which may include climbing stairs, navigating catwalks, lifting and bending, work from heights, and stand or walk for 1-4 hours at a time for 10 hours
  • Able to perform labor intensive work

Safety -Support a safe work environment by performing duties in accordance with acceptable, safe work procedures. This includes but is not limited to: reporting all incidents and accidents to your immediate supervisor within 24 hours; maintaining work area in a safe and healthful condition; reporting, and whenever possible correcting, unsafe working conditions; operating vehicles while in the course of employment in a safe and lawful manner; and providing assistance to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards.
