ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Operational Excellence
  • Maintain grounds of golf course and other Park District areas as required or assigned.
  • Cut holes, rake bunkers, clear brush and limbs, maintain landscape areas, install golf course equipment, operate a variety of small engine equipment, set tee markers, pick up paper and trash, paint equipment, etc. to keep Park
  • District golf course areas clean and well maintained.
  • Mow various heights of turf grass course-wide.
  • Trimming and weeding target green bunkers
  • Tree pruning and removal
  • Weeding and mulching ornamental beds
  • Mechanically raking bunkers
  • Rolling greens
  • Check turf conditions for moisture and disease and relay that information to the head superintendent and irrigation technician
  • Drive equipment safely and responsibly on various terrains within the golf course.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment that is used.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety rules and regulations issued by Rockford Park District
  • Treat public complaints or concerns with utmost attention.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Safety/Inspection
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the Safety Manual contents.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all general and departmental - specific safety rules.
  • Inspect work areas (use checklists) for compliance with safe work practices and rules.
  • Enforce safety rules and improve employee knowledge of the same by confronting and correcting unsafe behavior and conditions.
  • Immediately report all accidents and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Cooperate and assist in the investigation of accidents.
  • Attend all required safety program and in - service education meetings.
  • Pay strict attention to housekeeping of work area(s) and general facility.

Requirements
Education/Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Experience with golf facilities or related maintenance equipment preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about the game of golf
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with the public in a courteous manner.
  • Must have good and proven communication skills.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Training (can be obtained through the Rockford Park District)
