This role supports a busy manufacturing facility in eastern Indianapolis by performing a variety of general labor and industrial cleaning tasks on 1st shift. You help maintain a clean, safe, and compliant production environment by cleaning production areas, handling materials, and supporting daily operations in both indoor and outdoor areas.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to complete a variety of cleaning and general labor tasks that keep the production area safe and orderly.
  • Use brooms, air compressors, and other cleaning tools to remove dust, flour, and debris from production areas and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift, including sweeping, blowing down equipment, and cleaning around machinery.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, environmental compliance standards, and food quality requirements at all times.
  • Regularly climb stairs, ladders, and platforms to access different areas of the facility and equipment.
  • Access tight or low-clearance spaces by getting underneath equipment and working around machinery as needed.
  • Work effectively in a dusty environment where flour and other particulates are present in the air.
  • Perform tasks both indoors and outdoors, adjusting to changing weather and temperature conditions.
  • Lift, carry, and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds frequently, up to 55 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds overhead when required.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and squat for prolonged periods throughout the workday to complete assigned tasks.
  • Traverse up to approximately two miles during a workday while moving between work areas and completing cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including N95 masks and other PPE, and follow all safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Work overtime as needed, including occasional weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately and complete assigned tasks with attention to detail.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers and collaborate as a team member to support production and sanitation goals.
Essential Skills
  • Experience performing general labor or utility work in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform industrial cleaning tasks using brooms, air compressors, and other basic cleaning tools.
  • Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow safety procedures and make safety a top priority.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Capability to work in a dusty environment and around airborne flour or particulates.
  • Physical ability to ascend and descend stairs frequently and move throughout a large production facility.

  • Ability to traverse up to two miles during the course of a workday.
  • Willingness and ability to wear N95 masks and other required personal protective equipment.
  • Availability to work 1st shift and to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in general labor, industrial cleaning, or manufacturing environments.
  • Comfort working in environments with higher noise levels where hearing protection is required.
  • Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, and changing seasonal conditions.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic, including consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and tasks throughout the workday.
