Job description

Senior Front-End Developer

Seeking a React and JavaScript expert who can help lead modernization and performance optimization efforts on united.com. Put your coding skills, knowledge of front-end development and passion for technology to work at one of the world’s top airlines. Work within an Agile team to enhance the performance and quality of our codebase and deliver a best-in-class experience for our customers. If you have a passion for aviation and travel as well - we’re looking for you. You'll work with our digital content strategy and personalization team as we scale up to support all our digital channels, including the united.com and the mobile app. A passionate and knowledgeable front-end developer will round out our current team of front-end developers, content strategists, UX writers and digital product owners to help our customers get where they want to go and do what they want to do. You must be able to work independently and have no problem being able to analyze the scope of a project, gauge timelines and communicate SLAs to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and planning for solutions that maintain United's technology standards

• Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges

• Perform code reviews

• Help to troubleshoot, test, and maintain the product

• Work in an Agile environment

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or similar

• At least 5 years working with JavaScript and 2 with React

• Knowledge of object-oriented programming

• Experience in source code repositories like Github

• Experience with end-to-end CI/CD solutions using platforms like TeamCity

• Understanding of complex application architecture

• Clear communication skills, both written and verbal

• Deadline-driven with strong time management skills

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred:

• Familiarity with SDL or similar CMS systems

• Expert in performance-optimization techniques

• Ability to create high-level application architecture

• Previous work with a big brand or large global enterprise a plus

• Experience working on large-scale, complex web applications

Required Skills:

7+ years of development experience 3+ years of React.
