Job Overview

The Events Coordinator, Georgetown Institute for Women Peace and Security (GIWPS) will play a key role in maintaining GIWPS' reputation as a respected and growing global platform that drives progress for women and girls around the world. Through coordination and execution of events, the Events Coordinator will enable discussions that elevate women peacebuilders and shape the WPS field, as well as successful partnerships with key stakeholders that directly influence policy processes and ongoing educational and outreach related convenings.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing execution of GIWPS events including agenda design, securing and liaising with high-level speakers, collaborating with event partners, reserving venues, invitation outreach, briefing participants, day-of staffing, and any other duties related to the planning of an event

  • Collaborating with GIWPS and Georgetown colleagues on event promotion and media, protocol and security, and budgets and contracts

  • Arranging event participant transportation and lodging as needed

  • Creating, maintaining, and promoting event content across various calendars, websites and newsletters, working closely with communications team

  • Maintaining contact databases and creating/updating mailing lists

Work Interactions

The Events Coordinator will report to the Director of External Affairs and be part of a fast-paced and collaborative GIWPS External Affairs team. The position has no direct reports.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience coordinating or managing events, preferably in a non-profit or mission-driven setting

  • Must demonstrate a high level of organization and attention to detail, strong interpersonal and professional communications and writing skills, and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment. Excited and willing to take both initiative and direction as appropriate

  • Experience working in diplomatic environments and knowledge of international affairs/gender issues preferred

  • Experience drafting external and internal communications, briefings, social media content, and email blasts

  • Experience with Zoom webinars, contact management software (CRM), Canva, Google Suite

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously

  • Comfort with international travel (up to 20%) and working evening and weekend events as needed

Pay Range:

The projectedsalary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
