Job description

DUTIES:Under the general supervision of the Coordinator of PPD Events & Programming, the Event Staff is responsible for:

  • Assisting the operation of events and including the setup and tear down of the events. This includes, but is not limited to, moving fences, setting up tents, tables, chairs, and trash removal.
  • Assist in the inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of all designated areas of the designated event space.
  • Assisting full-time staff with routine duties during the course of an event.
  • Supporting all aspects of the Peoria Park District's safety program. Following all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures
  • Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supporting all aspects of the Park District's safety program.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
  • THIS POSITION WILL HELP OUT AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, AS NEEDED

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Bending and stooping, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds required.

NOTE:This job is a seasonal position from May through October. There are no set hours.

Hours depend on the number of events scheduled and the times they are scheduled.

Education: High school degree or equivalent preferred. Although a degree is preferred, experience in a like position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for all or part of the education preference.

Experience: Previous hospitality, special event and/or janitorial experience preferred.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with the public, City of Peoria Personnel, and Peoria Park District staff.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work.
  • Ability to follow picture-based event layouts.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
