Job description

Drainage Engineer
Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a dedicated and talented Drainage Engineer to join our team in Houston or San Antonio, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative solutions that enhance the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure in the region.
Education and Experience Requirements
Capabilities should include knowledge of drainage analysis and design, using Drainage software to prepare drainage analysis/studies, drainage designs for storm sewers, ditches and detention ponds. Should be familiar with TxDOT Roadway Design Manual and Hydraulic Design Manual, City of Houston design criteria, Harris County design criteria, and Harris County Flood Control District design criteria.
  • Must have 10-15 years of drainage analysis and design experience on transportation projects including Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)
  • Must be a Texas License professional engineer, or eligible for licensure within 6 months.
  • Must have experience in drainage engineering for TxDOT, County and local transportation agencies.
  • Must be experienced with drainage analysis software including GeoPak Drainage, HEC-RAS (steady, unsteady & 2D), HEC-HMS, HY-8, XP-SWMM.
  • Experience with MicroStation required, GIS preferred, and OpenRoads-DU experience is a plus
  • Must be knowledgeable with TxDOT Hydraulic Design Manual and standards.
  • TxDOT pre-certification in Hydrologic Studies, Roadway Hydraulic Design, Bridge Hydraulic Design, Bridge Scour Evaluation and Analysis preferred or able to obtain within 1 year. Pre-certification in all other drainage categories a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with a team

Duties
  • Perform drainage analysis using Drainage software to prepare drainage design/studies for storm sewers, ditches and detention ponds.
  • Prepares drainage system designs for storm sewers, open ditches, and detention ponds.
  • Preliminary and final designs for transportation projects such as highway, toll roads, county roads and city streets.
  • Performs complex hydrologic and hydraulic analysis/design of structures over waterways and prepare drainage report documents with tables and exhibits for submission to review agencies

Physical Demands
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. During fieldwork, the engineer may be exposed to different environments with loud noise, dust, dirt, changing temperatures, and must be able to move skillfully around construction sites.
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule; some night and weekend work may be required.
