Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Oncology RN for an outpatient clinic role requiring at least 1 year of current oncology nursing experience and an SD or compact RN license.

Details
  • Outpatient clinic setting within a Medical Oncology/Hematology department
  • Patient population includes adults 18+ with medical oncology/hematology needs, including BMT pre-transplant and post-transplant patients
  • Approximately 15-25 patients seen per day with Clinical Assistant support
  • 4 shifts per week, 10-hour days from 0700-1730
  • No weekends and no on-call requirements
  • No major holiday coverage, but minor holidays when clinic is open may require scheduling
  • Routine floating to work with different physicians within Medical Oncology
  • 5-day departmental orientation typical, subject to change based on skillset
Requirements
  • Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) currently in hand
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of current oncology experience
  • Completion of an approved nursing education program
  • Epic Ambulatory EMR experience required
  • Prior clinic experience required
  • Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment (first-time travelers not accepted)
Additional Information
  • Responsibilities include rooming patients, vital signs, review of systems, medication reconciliation, and weight checks
  • Obtain orders and process patients for infusions, including communication once cleared
  • Perform chart checks, set up for procedures, and review referrals
  • Supported by department leadership, Clinical Assistants, charge nurse, and a team lead resource
  • On-site lab services available; chemo nurses handle port access and blood draws
  • Physician team includes 7 Medical Oncologists, each typically supported by an ARNP
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Free parking provided
  • Time off requests of up to 7 days may be approved (excluding holidays) if traveler agrees to extend contract
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel assignment
  • Permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
