Customer Service Representative (Technical Order Processing)

Location: Madison, WI

Pay Rate: $23.21/hour

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (4 Months)

Schedule: Full-Time

About the Opportunity

A growing manufacturing and industrial solutions organization is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join its team in Madison, WI. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy customer interaction, problem-solving, and learning technical products in a collaborative environment.

Unlike a traditional high-volume call center position, this role focuses on processing customer orders, supporting sales representatives, and coordinating with internal departments to ensure customer needs are met. New hires will begin in an order processing capacity while developing product knowledge and learning internal systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide customer support via phone and email.
  • Generate quotes and assist with order-related inquiries.
  • Expedite orders and coordinate delivery updates.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Work closely with engineering, warehouse, and other internal departments to resolve questions and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate customer and order information within company systems.
  • Utilize Outlook, Excel, and ERP software to manage daily tasks.
  • Support sales representatives with administrative and customer service activities.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through timely communication and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service, order entry, or related experience.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Typing speed of at least 45 WPM.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn technical products and concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
