Ethox Chemicals, a privately held chemical manufacturing company with 190+ employees and part of the long-established Syntha Group, has built its reputation since 1968 on delivering quality chemical products and personalized customer service. The Syntha Group was founded in 1938 and now spanning five subsidiaries, focuses on innovation, custom manufacturing, and strong customer partnerships across formulation, R&D, sales, and distribution. As part of its continued growth, Ethox Chemicals is opening a new chemical plant on a 17-acre site in Pasadena, Texas, and is hiring a Industrial Instrumentation Electrician for its maintenance department.


Position Summary

The Industrial Instrumentation Electrician is responsible for performing instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting, predictive / preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations across the facility, with a specific focus on instrumentation, PLC’s motor controls, low and high-voltage systems. The position plays a key role in supporting the reliability and safety operations throughout the facility.


Shift: Standard 1st shift business hours for first ~3-4 months, then transition to 4x10s schedule (Tuesday - Friday), w/weekend on-call schedule.



Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation including level switches, differential pressure transmitters, level indicators, weigh indicators, control valves, flow meters, pH monitors, and related devices using process meters, HART communicators, and instrumentation software.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment including motors, motor starter circuits, lighting, transformers, VFDs, PLCs, MCCs, and 24V–480V power systems across plant, warehouse, office, and grounds.
  • Install, bend, pull, and secure various types of conduit (EMT, rigid, flexible, etc.), ensuring proper selection and use of fittings, supports, and wiring methods.
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams to complete installations, modifications, and repairs.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, inspections, audits, and testing (daily through annual) on instrumentation, electrical systems, boilers, and cooling towers; provide condition feedback and corrective recommendations.
  • Maintain and monitor the 800hp boiler system (including water softener and chemical feed systems) and cooling tower chemical systems; perform required testing, inspections, and documentation.
  • Support Operations and collaborate with the Shop Foreman, lead mechanics, and maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Perform and support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and workplace safety.
  • Maintain electrical and instrumentation spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Accurately document work performed, including labor hours, materials, inspections, and findings using HxGN EAM and other required systems; maintain complete and accurate equipment records.
  • Maintain readiness as a Hazmat Operations-level responder and maintain required certifications, including applicable MOP qualifications (excluding specified procedures).
  • Ensure quality workmanship, meet established productivity standards, follow company policies and safety procedures, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision; maintain flexibility to work overtime and participate in a weekend on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance and company management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree, technical training, or electrical certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of industrial instrumentation electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or refinery environment.
  • Proficient in instrument installation, electrical troubleshooting, and high / low-voltage systems.
  • Fluent with Hart communicators, Process meters, instrumentation calibrations and troubleshooting.
  • Fluent with computer usage including CMMS software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Previous experience operating warehouse forklifts, scissor lifts, and man lifts.
  • Technically inclined and skilled with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to successfully interface with customers, associates, and the community.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow complex requests, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Regular and reliable attendance. Required to be on-site.

Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to perform the essential job functions of the position, which includes prolonged periods of standing and walking, climbing stairs, performing repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works both indoors and outdoors, in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and must be able to tolerate working in changing weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.
