Special Education Teacher

Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to provide quality educational services to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher will support students with diverse learning needs through individualized instruction, collaboration, and advocacy.

This role requires a strong commitment to teamwork, student success, and partnership with general education staff to develop and implement effective educational programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students receiving special education services.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans and educational strategies.
  • Collaborate with administrators, general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student achievement.
  • Deliver tutorial assistance and academic interventions as needed.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, educational planning, and program development.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, district, and professional standards related to special education services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations.
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred.
  • Standard Elementary Teaching Certification preferred.
  • Standard Secondary Teaching Certification preferred.
  • Standard Special Education Teaching Certification preferred.
  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) Endorsement preferred.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • Current TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current health certificate as required by state regulations or district contract.
  • Must comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Assignment Details

  • Position: Special Education Teacher
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract Length: 36 weeks
  • Interview Required: Yes
  • Interview Process: Selected candidates will interview with the principal of the assigned school site.

  • This position supports district-wide special education staffing needs, with teachers assigned to various school sites based on district requirements.
  • Specific assignment details will be determined prior to interviews with school principals.
  • Candidates should be flexible regarding grade level, student population, and school placement.
  • First-day instructions will be provided upon acceptance of an offer.
