Part-time 3rd shift position with rotation - weekend/holiday rotation

We are currently offering a sign on bonus of $5,000 for a 2 year commitment to UPMC.
Responsibilities:

  • Provides protective devices as required. Uses protective devices properly, i.e. sponges, Pigg-o-stat, table straps, litter side rails, etc.
  • May be responsible for specific area of instruction for ancillary personnel. Answers questions and informs proper staff how to proceed pertaining to exam.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.Keeps rooms and work area orderly and clean. Ensures equipment is cleaned between each patient and supplies are stored in proper area.
  • Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Selects and operates equipment as directed. Appropriate equipment and technical factors are used.
  • Utilizes tracking equipment to ensure accurate record keeping and proper charging of patient exams. Tracks all patients without evidence of a recurrent pattern of deficiencies.
  • Assists with procedures in surgery and sets up and operates equipment, takes radiographs as directed by the surgeon.
  • Transfers and positions patients. Safely assists or moves patients without injury. Positions patients correctly. Limited repeats. No negative comments by radiologists and passes annual positioning competency.
  • Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. When appropriate, all patients are shielded. All females of child-bearing age are questioned about pregnancy.
  • Performs quality assurance activities, as assigned. No documentation of deficiencies.
  • Is responsible for performance of routine or special procedures. Performs all exams in accordance with the Department Procedure Manual.
  • Maintains and correctly develops film by means of CR system. Films are processed with correct patient information.
  • Rotates within the Department or other areas and by shift as required.Reports to assigned area as required.
  • Sets up and operates mobile x-ray equipment. Has the ability to manipulate portable equipment to obtain routine images.
  • Maintains adequate records as directed on requisitions, etc. Properly documents all required information.
  • Assists physicians in administering opaque media. Informs radiologist of patient's history; assists in administering contrast.
  • Secures and returns needed supplies. Restocks all rooms and film magazines.
  • Assists in performing first aid as necessary. Has knowledge of first aid and where to find needed supplies if necessary.
  • Use of PACS Has knowledge of PACS, to review and acquire currrent and previous images. To acess accession numbers. Use of Radiology information system Has Knowledge of interactive documents, scanning documents, able to charge, revise procedure, and a procedure.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease. Documentation of attending hospital in-service program and is certified in CPR.
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Has knowledge of sterile technique and no evidence of cross contamination deficiencies.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be a graduate of a radiology technology program.
  • Must possess manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; must be able to adapt to all types of conditions of patients.
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    CPR or BLS required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Must be an American Registered Radiological Technologist (A.R.R.T.) If not registered at time of employment, must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date as of January 1, 2025. Diagnostic Technologists hired prior to January 1, 2025, will need to obtain their registry within 12 months of hire/transfer date.
  • ARRT Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
