Job description

About the role

Step into a senior, shop-floor role where you wire, assemble, and bring plate products to life through meticulous end-of-line testing and troubleshooting. As a hands-on leader and mentor, you embody BAC’s values—Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation—while guiding junior mechanics and influencing daily outcomes. Around here, our north star is simple: doing the right thing in the right way.

A day in the life
  • Start with safety: own it personally and for the team; follow all rules and use proper PPE.
  • Rotate through all NEXUS stations, particularly Assembly and Wiring, to meet build schedules.
  • Apply standard work to build to spec—and interpret those standards for junior mechanics.
  • Wire high-voltage (3-phase/480V) and low-voltage controls from schematics; install motors and controls and verify proper operation.
  • Perform Hi-Pot (dielectric) testing and complete end-of-line testing; troubleshoot plate products to root cause.
  • Operate equipment efficiently to maximize productivity and quality; meet or exceed shift production goals.
  • Complete basic preventive maintenance and sign off the primary maintenance procedure checklist daily and weekly.
  • Uphold quality and process standards rigorously; document processes for knowledge capture and training.
  • Lead a small group of junior assemblers; train and develop teammates toward technical and professional growth.
  • Track, update, and post departmental metrics; complete accurate paperwork and online data entry.
  • Practice and sustain 5S; participate in continuous improvement initiatives and safety improvements.
  • Champion sustainability: reduce environmental impact, minimize waste, maximize recycling, and conserve energy and water.
  • Support a culture of innovation—turn original ideas into better processes, methods, systems, or services.
  • Flex across multiple workstations and adapt to change; perform other duties as requested.
Scope and collaboration

You report to the Team Leader and operate as a subject matter expert and influencer. You’ll provide hands-on leadership, mentor junior assemblers, and be ready to step into department leadership roles as needed. Your expertise may be tapped for participation on regional project teams and cross-functional initiatives supporting plant objectives.

What you bring
  • Proven small-team leadership and the communication skills—written and verbal—to collaborate with supervisors, customers, and co-workers professionally and clearly.
  • Ability to read and interpret machine/mechanical/electrical blueprints, technical specifications, and electrical/electronic circuit diagrams and schematics.
  • Competence in Hi-Pot testing, maintenance and troubleshooting techniques, and root-cause support using continuous improvement tools.
  • Demonstrated skill installing motors and controls; wiring both high-voltage 3-phase/480V and low-voltage control circuits from schematics.
  • Strong math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, fraction-to-decimal conversions) and ability to use measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, protractor).
  • Thorough knowledge of machine-operation hazards and safety-sensitive areas across the department and plant; unwavering commitment to safety.
  • High level of product knowledge across BAC models and parts; ability to locate instructions/forms on the LAN or other databases.
  • Excel proficiency to update data and generate metrics; comfortable posting and communicating metrics.
  • Flexibility to work across stations and adapt quickly; experience working on cross-functional teams.
Working conditions and schedule
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; stand up to 80% of the time; frequent walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting.
  • Fine hand manipulation and strong hand–eye coordination for control adjustments and wiring work.
  • Any of three shifts; typically 40 hours per week with some weekend overtime expected.
  • Variable temperatures—both within the plant and ambient outdoor conditions.

Legal notice: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Proficiencies
  • Electrical Schematics
  • Electrical / Electronic Systems
