For over 400 years, Santo Domingo Pueblo has been one of the central Indian Pueblos in New Mexico. Summary of Position:

This position serves a dual role within the Men's Transitional Living Program and Kewa Family Wellness Center services. As a Senior Community Support Worker and Shift Lead, the employee supports daily program operations, staff coordination, resident supervision, and the delivery of structured, recovery-oriented services. As a Cultural Liaison / Mentor, the employee promotes cultural identity, resilience, and connection by integrating Santo Domingo Pueblo values, traditions, language, and teachings into programming and service delivery. This role helps strengthen the cultural, emotional, and behavioral well-being of community members served through Kewa Family Wellness Center. The position provides cultural mentorship to residents and clients, supports staff in delivering culturally responsive services, and helps ensure traditional knowledge and community values are appropriately reflected across programs. This may include teaching cultural practices, supporting traditional foodways education, mentoring through cultural values and teachings, and integrating traditional understandings of the relationship between people, animals, and the land, including support for equine-related programming where appropriate. This position supports the mission of Kewa Family Wellness Center across programs including the Men's Transitional Living Program, Behavioral Health Services, Kewa House Emergency Youth Shelter, Domestic Violence Shelter, and Prevention Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled members of Santo Domingo Pueblo preferred or strong knowledge of Santo Domingo Pueblo traditions, values, and cultural practices.
  • Ability to communicate and teach in Keres and English preferred.
  • Knowledge of cultural teachings, community values, and traditional practices relevant to service delivery.
  • Ability to teach or support Traditional Foodways Education Program curriculum and other culturally relevant activities in alignment with community standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor youth, adults, and families.
  • Ability to support structure, encourage participation, and help develop meaningful programming and activities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, make independent decisions, resolve conflict, and communicate effectively with residents, staff, leadership, and the community.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience working in community programs, behavioral health, education, residential services, or youth/adult mentorship preferred.
  • Prior teaching, facilitation, staff training, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments, programs, and external partners.
  • Must meet all Kewa Family Wellness Center and Santo Domingo Pueblo Human Resources requirements, including background checks, valid driver's license requirements, court clearance, medical clearance, and compliance with Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations.
  • Extended working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must be insured through Santo Domingo Pueblo's Liability insurance plan.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a background check that includes FBI, State, MVR, Tribal background checks, and a new hire drug/alcohol screening.
