What are some common challenges faced by a Weekend Creative, and how can they be managed?

Weekend Creatives often balance tight deadlines and multiple projects within a limited timeframe, which can make time management challenging. Collaborating efficiently with clients and team members who may have standard weekday hours requires clear communication and proactive scheduling. To succeed, it’s important to set clear boundaries, prioritize tasks, and make use of digital collaboration tools to stay connected with your team. Additionally, taking time to recharge during off-hours helps maintain creativity and prevent burnout.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Creative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Creative, you need a strong portfolio showcasing creative content, proficiency in design or media production, and ideally a background in marketing or communications. Familiarity with creative software such as Adobe Creative Suite, social media management tools, and project collaboration platforms is typically required. Standout soft skills include adaptability, strong time management, and effective communication to deliver high-quality work within tight weekend timelines. These skills are crucial for producing compelling, on-brand content efficiently and collaborating smoothly with clients or teams during condensed work periods.

What is a Weekend Creative?

A Weekend Creative is someone who pursues creative projects, such as photography, writing, art, design, or content creation, primarily during the weekends. This role is often taken by individuals who have full-time jobs or other commitments during the week but want to explore their artistic passions in their free time. Weekend Creatives might freelance, build portfolios, or work on personal projects, using weekends to hone their skills and express their creativity. This approach allows them to balance their creative interests with other responsibilities.

Job description

About Abode Money

Abode Money is the first‑ever AI financial home manager, using AI to save homeowners on property taxes, insurance, mortgage and more. Homeowners spend $2T+ per year on their home. Not only is it difficult to buy a home today, but it’s become just as challenging to continue owning your home. We’re going to be the first to create a relationship with 80M+ homeowners in the US by saving them money year after year.

We’ve raised $23M from Permanent Capital, Drive Capital, Sequoia, Core VC and The 81 Collection.

The Role

We're hiring a Head of Creative Strategy to own creative at Abode Money and build the engine that produces it at volume.

You’ll own the creative that drives our paid channels, concepts, production, testing, and learnings, and you’ll lead our organic creative alongside it. As we grow, you’ll shape the brand and extend it into experiential, out of home, and direct mail. You're the first creative here, so you build it from the ground up.

You’re a creative who thinks in performance. Your job is to capture the attention of homeowners who are overpaying and get them to act. A hook gets attention, but the body and the offer are what convert, and you build for the people most likely to buy.

You’ll be embedded in a growth team that’s already running, with paid, lifecycle, and analytics partners around you. Creative is yours. You source and brief creators, build the workflow, run the tests, read the results, and turn what works into a repeatable system.

You should be AI‑native in practice. You use it to make more creative, test more, and get from idea to live faster than a traditional team could. AI makes output cheap. Taste is the part that still has to be yours.

This is a chance to build a category‑defining brand for homeowners, one they actually trust. You'll own creative here and build the system that produces it.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the creative that drives paid: Concepts, production, testing, and learnings, from static to UGC to video
  • Lead creative testing: Test design, success criteria, iteration cadence, and a learnings loop, in tandem with the media buyer who owns spend
  • Build the creator‑led content engine: Sourcing, briefing, production workflows, and scaling winners
  • Lead our organic creative: Strategy, production, and cadence
  • Messaging: Own messaging across ads, landing pages, lifecycle, and organic
  • Own content production: Build a repeatable pipeline that ships at volume
  • Branding: Shape the brand and extend it offline through experiential, out of home, and direct mail
  • Vision: Set the creative vision as the brand scales
Who You Are
  • Have built a creative engine from zero, from sourcing and production to testing and reporting
  • Live in the creator economy and can turn creators into a repeatable, high‑performing channel
  • Think like a performance marketer with the taste of a creative. You can read what's live and tell what's working and why
  • Can produce the work yourself, not just direct it
  • Write clearly and to convert
  • Are AI‑native in production and always looking for the next workflow to automate
  • Think in systems, not one‑off campaigns
  • Have strong taste, hold it under pressure, and change your mind when the data says so
Basic Qualifications
  • Have built a creative engine from zero, with work you can point to across static, UGC, and video
  • Can produce the work yourself, not just brief and direct it. Comfortable using AI in production to ship more and test faster
  • Strong performance instincts. You can read what's live and tell what's working and why. Bonus if you've owned creative against paid metrics like CAC or ROAS
  • Based in Austin and able to work onsite 4 days a week
  • Bonus: hands‑on experience running creator‑led content as a channel, or creative for paid on Meta or TikTok
Our Core Values

Take ownership. This is yours. We build everything through single‑threaded autonomy. One person owns the outcome, makes the calls, and sees it through. We believe in “asking for forgiveness, not permission” so you can make unencumbered decisions.

Move fast. Decide. Ship. Learn. Repeat. Speed is our edge. Perfection is the enemy of momentum. We will forever move faster than our competition.

Be resourceful. Find ways to do more with less. Constraints don’t slow us down. They make us inventive. There’s always a way through, and the people who own their work find it. “That’s not my job” isn’t a sentence anyone here finishes.

Think big and challenge convention. Dare to do things differently. You don’t change the world with incrementally better solutions. The systems we’re fixing are broken because everyone accepted them. We question the default, build the better answer, and refuse to blend in.

Measure everything. Data is the tiebreaker. We turn instincts into evidence, hunches into experiments, and opinions into numbers. If we can measure it, we can beat it.

Compensation

$170,000 - $210,000 base, plus equity
