Job description

Resident Assistant – On-call

This position is on-call, and you will need to fulfill the on-call requirements of (4) shifts per month. (2) shifts (depending on availability) will need to be on a weekend or holiday.

Compensation

  • Starting wage: $19.96–$21.00 per hour, based on experience

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the resident with personal cares which may include all or some of the following: dressing, grooming, oral cares, toileting, management of incontinence products, showering, shampooing hair, rubbing with lotions, fingernail/toenail care, foot cares if instructed to do so, medication administration, redirection of confused resident, and other cares as assigned.
  2. Assist in use of hearing aids, glasses, walkers, wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
  3. Assist with treatments as delegated by the RN.
  4. Medication administration/assistance as delegated by RN.
  5. Assist with meal preparation as directed following special meal plans.
  6. Lead resident activities as scheduled and assigned.
  7. Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration as instructed. Report changes or concerns to RN.
  8. Observe residents and report changes in physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, loss of appetite, weight, etc.
  9. Follow cleaning schedule per shift worked maintaining a clean and safe environment for the resident.
  10. Recognize safety responsibilities of employee for the resident. Report occupational hazards and/or incidents of injury to appropriate personnel.
  11. Recognize employee’s responsibility for his / her own safety while on the job and for the safety of others. Recognize and remove environmental dangers.
  12. Complete maintenance service request slips for equipment in need of repairs.
  13. Apply principles of good body mechanics when lifting and moving objects.
  14. Use transfer techniques consistent with proper body mechanics.
  15. Follow proper procedure and participate in disaster planning drills (fire, tornado, severe weather, etc.) when on duty.
  16. Practice fire safety and accident prevention procedures.
  17. Maintain calm manner in tense situations.
  18. Attend in-service training and staff meetings as assigned.
  19. Develop knowledge of actions to be implemented in emergency situations.
  20. Develop knowledge of Standard Precautions and follow infection control procedures.
  21. Follow policy and procedures governing the operation of Glenwood Village Care Center and Parkview Court Assisted Living.
  • Attend home care orientation and receive instruction regarding department duties.
  • Attend general orientation.
  • Understand use of department procedure manual.
  • Must understand and adhere to Vulnerable Adult Abuse Prevention Policy.
  • Must adhere to HIPPA privacy rules and regulations.
  • Must uphold resident’s rights at all times.
    22. Demonstrate dependable professional work habits.
    23. Adhere to requirements set forth in personnel policy manual.
    24. Make suggestions, complaints, or grievances in a constructive manner.
    25. Handle work related situations regarding staff with confidentiality.
    26. Come to work on time and when scheduled. Report absences according to policy.
    27. Maintain good personal hygiene and grooming. Come to work neat and clean.
