Job Schedule: 3/12 (Weekend A): Employees work 12 hours a day, 3 days a week (Friday - Sunday from 6:00AM - 6:30PM)ย 

Job Description:

Position sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, precision grinders, etc. to make parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

Essential Functions:ย 

  • This position interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required and method of setup and arrangement; work with a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; make shop computations; and fit and put together precision parts and determine material, parts and equipment required.

  • Fabricates piece parts per work instructions, drawings and specifications through the use of required machine tools.

  • Inspects piece parts per work instruction and drawing requirements.

  • Sets up and operates machine tools. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to run machine shop equipment such as lathes, CNC, milling machines, precision grinders, etc. to make parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

  • Uses, adjusts, cleans and stores the tools, machinery and equipment used.

  • Keeps records and reports of the use of equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 0 to 3 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • A trade school certification or state-licensed Journeyman Machinist certification is strongly desired.

  • Manual machining experience is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of setting up the operation of milling machines and lathes.

  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, blueprints, production plans and/or work instructions.

  • Working knowledge performing in-process inspection of finished parts utilizing appropriate inspection and gaging equipment.

  • Knowledge of industry applicable laws, codes, ordinances and regulations.

  • Experience as a manual machinist on a conventional lathe and CNC machining in an industrial / manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of machine tools and equipment, machine shop procedures and practices, principals and properties. Knowledge of basic mathematic principles to solve problems.

  • The ability to work in a team environment and relate to all levels of employees.
