Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Revenue Cycle Coding Supervisor position is responsible for providing supervisory oversight to the staff responsible for performing daily activities for the Coding Team.  Supervises team members by empowering, coaching, providing guidance, and leading by example. Provides staff with opportunities for learning and personal growth and development. This position is also responsible for providing supervisory oversight of all exams that require coding review.  Supervises workflow to ensure priority, timeliness, accuracy, efficiency and completeness of coding. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities          

  • Provides team members with support, motivation, mentoring and training.
  • Recognizes and provides coaching, counseling, and discipline as appropriate.
  • Ensures team members meet standards as it relates to the team’s daily responsibilities.
  • Ensures team members follow all compliance plan standards conforming to applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Personal contact that involves judgment, interpretation or clarification of policy, procedure or event is required up to 100% of time with team members and others outside the department on routine matters.
  • Promotes and maintains harmonious relationships among team members and other departments to provide maximum service to patients and site of service. Routine personal contact is required less than 50% of time with positions in other departments to maintain workflow.
  • Evaluates and adjusts workflow and workloads throughout the department on a daily basis and throughout the day as necessary. Alerts Manager/Director to conditions on a daily basis.
  • Monitors periodically throughout each day every coding worklists to ensure cases are coded within 48 hours of receipt. Provides feedback to team members regarding cases that do not meet specified guidelines.
  • Ensures on a daily basis that a 5% of average monthly case volume or less is in Maverick for each site.
  • Oversees the send back process and follows send back guidelines for all sites. Ensures that cases are logged or reviewed in RIS for information needed in a timely basis.
  • Reviews Coding Audits. Provides feedback to team members regarding their scores and provides additional training as needed.
  • Delegates work appropriately and follows through to ensure optimal results.
  • Position requires continual evaluation of processes and procedures, including documentation.
  • Supports the objectives of the Sr. Manager as well as keeping them informed of all aspects of the team and workflow.
  • Tasks performed require practical or working knowledge as well as basic knowledge of theory as to why tasks are performed. Initiative is required for good work performance.
  • Performs coding in accordance with established processes, policies and guidelines and in conformance with recognized standards for quantity and quality of work as needed.
  • Verifies and investigates any discrepancies in accuracy or completeness of medical record.
  • Reads and interprets accurately and efficiently all medical documentation to identify all diagnoses, conditions, problems or other reasons for the encounter.
  • Performs repetitive work with extreme accuracy. Alertness during all phases of work, as errors and incompetence may have serious consequences in reimbursement for services rendered and to patients, RadNet personnel and others. 
  • Tolerance is required to deal with pressures up to 75% of time caused by volume of work, deadlines, interruptions, distractions, or frustrations.
  • Must safeguard access to confidential information regarding patients or personnel more than 90% of time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • A national coding certification is required. Preferably CPC (Certified Professional Coder) and/or RCC (Radiology Certified Coder) An RCC will be required within 2 years of employment but preferably sooner.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of radiology coding and preferably interventional radiology coding.
  • Must have superior customer service skills; must be able to maintain a tactful demeanor, be compassionate, courteous, and helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to research issues and provide solutions through advanced problem solving skills.
  • A high school diploma, proficient computer skills, ability to type 30+ WPM and 10-key, medical terminology knowledge, resourcefulness, knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes, MS Office and the ability to multi-task are also a must.
  • Experience in coaching and building team oriented environments is highly desired.
  • Experience with eRAD, Imagine, ADP also plus.

  • Promotes good public relations on the phone and in person.
  • Adapts and is willing to learn new tasks, methods, and systems.
  • Reports to work regularly as scheduled; consistently punctual with respect to working hours, meal and rest breaks, and maintains satisfactory personal attendance in accordance with RadNet guidelines.
  • Consistently adheres to the time management policies and procedures.

Pay Range: $65,000 - $72,000 per year
