Job description

Mainframe Developer/Engineer

Hybrid, once a month onsite in Reston, VA. Candidates MUST reside in the DMV/WV area. Must be able to attend a 2nd-round interview in Reston, VA.

US Citizen or Green Card only

12-month contract with potential for conversion. Candidates MUST be eligible to convert.

Senior Software Engineer with a strong Mainframe background to support core enrollment systems that power employee healthcare programs and enrollment data processing. This is a backfill opportunity supporting a large-scale environment with over 2 million members and a significant portfolio of legacy systems. The team is looking for a dedicated Mainframe professional who is also interested in learning and adopting newer technologies.

Required:
5+ years of experience in Mainframe development
Strong experience working with COBOL and other Mainframe technologies/tools including CICS, JCL, and DB2
Experience working with large-scale enterprise applications and data processing environments

Nice to Have:
Java development experience, Java/Spring/Boot
Interest in learning and working with modern technologies
Healthcare industry experience, particularly with enrollment or member data systems
Experience supporting Mainframe modernization efforts to the cloud (AWS preferred)
