Job description

The Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality therapeutic services such as full body table massage, chair massage, and assisted stretching tailored to the unique needs and goals of individual clients while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and care aligned with Tampa General Hospital's (TGH) mission, vision, and values. In addition to direct client service, the Massage Therapist contributes to operational excellence by performing thorough, accurate, and timely patient documentation. Supports inventory management and supply fulfillment including the ordering and procurement of bed linen, massage lotions, face covers, and cleaning supplies. Contributes to membership engagement, program growth, and marketing initiatives to enhance the visibility and success of the TGH Fitness Center. Remains knowledgeable of Florida Department of Health (DOH) massage establishment state law and regulations. Promote health literacy, preventive wellness, and sustainable behavior change by facilitating evidence-based, chronic disease self-management community programs and other workshops. Additionally, this role will be responsible for performing select fitness and education services for TampaWell and OneTGH corporate partners, on and off campus. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides safe, effective, and individualized massage therapy and assisted stretching services. 
  • Performs full body massage in the TGH Fitness Center and chair massages in the hospital and offsite locations in support of TampaWell and OneTGH client partner. 
  • Ensures massage studio, chairs, and equipment are maintained in excellent working condition. 
  • Monitors and replenishes supplies as needed to support seamless operations. 
  • Adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety. 
  • Consistently demonstrates punctuality, reliability, and adherence to scheduled sessions. 
  • Effectively communicates with patients regarding treatment goals, progress, and self-care recommendations. 
  • Maintains a professional, patient-centered approach that prioritizes comfort, safety, and overall wellness. 
  • Collaborate with key partners and hospital stakeholders to strategize, coordinate, and implement health programs. 
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, serving as the primary liaison for key collaborations. 
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret program data to measure outcomes, recommend strategies for improvement, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. 
  • Documents client sessions thoroughly, including subjective input, objective findings, clinical assessments, and detailed plans of care. 
  • Safeguard personal health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards
  • Deliver high-impact, evidence-based health education programs covering chronic disease self-management, physical health, mental well-being, nutrition, work-life balance, and preventive care for internal teams and external partners, across in-person and virtual platforms. 
  • Stay abreast of workplace wellness trends, legal considerations, and health promotion innovations. 
  • Supports the implementation of marketing strategies designed to increase awareness and utilization of massage services. 
  • Lead member activities, membership recruitment, retention, and engagement. 
  • Train and provide guidance to junior team members, ensuring successful execution of their responsibilities. 
  • Oversees chair massage program email. 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned. 

License/Registration - Issued by Florida:

  • Licensed Massage Therapist

Certification:

  • CPR/AED

Work Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, years of experience, and key role compentecies.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and massage modalities. 
  • Strong computer skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams (Meetings, Town Hall Forums.) 
  • Advanced technical skills in client record-keeping and safeguarding sensitive health information. 
  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, written and verbal, with all audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee the planning, development, and implementation of evidence-based interventions and innovative wellness programs 
  • Ability to lead promotional efforts and branding initiatives to advertise programs and events effectively with minimal oversight. 
  • Ability to support leadership in developing and refining engagement strategies. 
  • Confidence in public speaking and presenting effectively promote events and initiatives. 
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
