Job description

Position Overview
United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a per diem Vascular Access RN to support patients across the UHS system. This role focuses on placing ultrasound-guided IVs and completing central line dressing changes, requiring strong clinical expertise and attention to detail. The ideal candidate brings excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to various care settings. Reliable transportation is required, as this position supports multiple UHS locations. Candidates with infusion nursing experience or vascular access certifications are strongly preferred.
Primary Department, Division, or Unit:
Vascular Access Team, UHS Wilson Medical Center
Work Shift and Schedule:
This is a per diem position, which means you will work on an as needed, agreed upon basis. Working hours will be assigned by your manager.
Compensation Range:
$40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience
This position is not eligible for benefits.
Schedule
  • Day - Rotational
  • 8 and 12 hour shifts
  • Per diem coverage for a 7-day-a-week service line. Must be available for weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy.
  • Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
  • Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.
  • Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
  • Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
  • Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
  • Will follow all United Health Services Values
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
  • A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing

Preferred:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting

License/Certification
Minimum Required:
  • Current NYS RN License

Preferred:
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
  • Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
