  • Provide meaningful mentorship and guidance to student-athletes, fostering growth, accountability, leadership, and teamwork.

  • Assist with planning and supervising practices, team meetings, film sessions, and game-day operations.

  • Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach and Athletics Department to support a cohesive basketball program across all levels.

  • Communicate professionally and consistently with players, families, colleagues, and school leadership.

  • Serve as a positive ambassador for Portledge Athletics and support the growth and visibility of the basketball program.

  • Assist with equipment management, uniforms, transportation coordination, and other program logistics as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all PSAA, NYSAIS, and school policies and procedures.

  • Attend and supervise all practices, games, team events, and assigned athletic department responsibilities.

  • Utilize game and practice film (e.g., Hudl) to support player development, scouting, and team improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous basketball coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.

  • Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, player development, and team concepts.

  • Ability to connect with and motivate student-athletes of varying skill levels.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to educational athletics.

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred (education, sports management, or related field).

  • Availability for evening and weekend commitments, including travel for away games.

  • Experience with video analysis tools (e.g., Hudl) preferred.
