Job Title: Athletic Trainer - (Tennis and Spirit Program Focus)

Department Name: Rutgers Athletic Department

Job Overview:

The Athletic Trainer provides daily coordination of the Athletic Department’s healthcare delivery system with a primary focus on student-athletes competing in the women’s tennis and spirit programs. Operating within a comprehensive, interdisciplinary medical team, this role is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of evidence-based care encompassing proactive risk reduction, clinical management, and administrative excellence. Working under the direction of the Assistant Director of Athletic Training, you will serve as a vital medical resource for athletes, coaches, and physicians alike.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in athletic training from a CAATE-accredited athletic training program or equivalent professional degree
  • New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners Athletic Training License in good standing (or eligible)
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association BOC certification in good standing
  • Active AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while working proficiently under pressure
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with efficiency and effectiveness
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and discretion in managing personal health information

Preferred:

  • Professional experience as an Athletic Trainer working with highly motivated individuals in collegiate or professional athletic settings

Scheduling Requirements

  • Full-Time
  • Includes non-traditional working hours, holidays, evenings, and weekends
  • Travel required during specific periods based on competition schedules

Essential Functions:

  • Provide athletic training services for the Rutgers University athletic department with a primary focus on the student-athletes competing in the women's tennis and spirit programs. 
  • Attend scheduled team practices and competitions, home and away, as scheduled.
  • Manage the comprehensive health-related needs of the teams and individual athletes through a professional interaction and patient-centered approach.
  • Provide first aid and emergency medical care to athletes through accepted medical standards.
  • Develop and/or implement procedures and routines for attending to and dealing with minor day-to-day injuries of athletes.
  • Provide rehabilitative services for athletes under the direction of team physicians and in coordination with staff physical therapists and athletic trainers.
  • Within the bounds of confidentiality and other related matters of propriety, ensure relevant information is set forth and presented to coaches, academic support, health service providers, athletes, and family members in a clear, concise, and cogent format.
  • Provide administrative reports when requested and complete other duties as assigned.
