Job Summary
The Telecom Aerial Lineman is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing aerial fiber optic and telecommunications lines. This role is essential for ensuring reliable, high-speed communication infrastructure. The position requires technical skill, physical endurance, and a strong commitment to safety while working at heights and in field environments.
Essential Tasks
  • Install, maintain, and repair aerial fiber optic and telecommunications lines
  • Climb poles, towers, and other structures to access lines and equipment
  • Splice, connect, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and telecommunications cables
  • Assist with job site setup, including staging equipment, tools, and materials
  • Perform daily inspections of equipment, tools, and safety gear
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies, including participation in daily safety meetings and proper use of required PPE
  • Work collaboratively with crew members and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding progress, safety concerns, and site conditions
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude when interacting with coworkers, property owners, and the public

Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a telecom lineman, fiber optic technician, or similar role is preferred
  • Knowledge of aerial fiber optic and telecommunications installation practices
  • Familiarity with climbing equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Understanding of basic construction and electrical safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, job plans, and utility locates

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    Prior experience in telecommunications, aerial fiber optic, or utility work is preferred but not required for motivated candidates

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind
  • Position requires physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Frequent climbing, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and working at heights
  • Exposure to construction equipment, noise, dust, uneven terrain, and active job sites
  • Extended hours, overtime, overnight, and weekend work may be required based on project schedules
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

Work Hours
The normal work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, with extended hours and required overtime when needed; may also include overnight and weekend work depending on project schedules.
